I have 18 years teaching experience in both Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and have taught both Single and Double Science to GCSE and A Level Biology and Chemistry.
I was appointed a Lead Practitioner in 2014 and was asked to be a Joint Subject Leader in 2015. My goal was to turn Science around and help the school move from a 3 to 2. This was achieved when our school was inspected in June 2016 and was awarded a good rating.
Through my role as a lead practitioner I have led training and development on AfL, the use of EAL in Science and the use of internet learning platforms such as Doddle and Tassomai. I also have presented the use of internet learning platforms at Teach Meets.
As a PiXL school we share information and expertise across schools and in January I visited a school in Potters Bar to assist with their data analysis and Ofsted preparation.
My school is a member of the East Dacorum Learning Partnership and as such I also work with Adeyfield school and teach A Level Biology at both schools.
I have experience in mentoring. I mentored ITT students as part of the St Albans Federation and previously mentored NQTs, many who are now in senior teaching positions.
In my previous school (Tring School), I was an Assistant Subject Leader with responsibility for Biology and then KS5 Science. I successfully ran several trips including an annual 6 day residential field trip with 40 A Level Biologists to Wales.
In the 13 years that I was at Tring I held the position of WRL and Enterprise Coordinator and was a Head of House for 6 years.
